چکیده

Abstract Using temporal observations of circular polarized harmonic plasma emission from a split-band type II solar radio burst at 80 MHz, we separately estimated the coronal magnetic field strengths ( B ) associated with lower L and upper U frequency bands burst. The corresponding Stokes I V data were obtained polarimeter operating above in Gauribidanur observatory. was flare/coronal mass ejection on disk. Simultaneous spectral spectrograph there range 80–35 MHz helped to establish that observed component values are ≈ 1.2 G 2.4 G, respectively. different for same (80 MHz) two imply unambiguously fundamental 40 must have originated spatial locations. Two-dimensional imaging radioheliograph observatory indicate same. As comparatively higher is expected behind propagating shock due compression as well regions being closer Sun, our results sources - -band should be located ahead shock, These useful understand pre- postshock corona locations electron acceleration shock.

The Magnetic Field of the Solar Corona from Pulsar Observations

Abstract. We present a novel experiment with the capacity to independently measure both the electron density and the magnetic field of the solar corona. We achieve this through measurement of the excess Faraday rotation due to propagation of the polarised emission from a number of pulsars through the magnetic field of the solar corona. This method yields independent measures of the integrated e...

Radio observations of a coronal mass ejection induced depletion in the outer solar corona

We report the first low frequency radio observations of a depletion that occurred in the outer solar corona in the aftermath of the CME event of 1986 June 5, with the large E-W one dimensional grating interferometer at the Gauribidanur radio observatory. We estimated the mass loss associated with the depletion and found that it agrees well with the value obtained through white light observation...

Dual-Polarization Observations of Slowly Varying Solar Emissions from a Mobile X-Band Radar

The radio noise that comes from the Sun has been reported in literature as a reference signal to check the quality of dual-polarization weather radar receivers for the S-band and C-band. In most cases, the focus was on relative calibration: horizontal and vertical polarizations were evaluated versus the reference signal mainly in terms of standard deviation of the difference. This means that th...

The solar eruption of 13 May 2005: EISCAT and MERLIN observations of a coronal radio burst

We report results from EISCAT and MERLIN observations of radio scintillation during a solar eruptive event in May 2005. Anomalous increases in signal strength detected at sites more than 2000 km apart are shown to arise from the detection of a strong coronal radio burst in the distant off-axis response of the MERLIN and EISCAT antennas. These observations show that EISCAT is capable of detectin...
